JianZhan Handmade Teacups

Jianzhan, originating from Jianyang, Nanping, Fujian, is a representative of black glazed porcelain from the Song Dynasty, renowned as the "pearl of the porcelain world." Using the iron-rich red soil from the region as its primary material, Jianzhan is crafted through a series of intricate processes including kneading, shaping, and glazing, demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship. As a national geographical indication product of China, Jianzhan boasts a unique and elegant design, typically featuring a small mouth and tapered waist, resembling a funnel. The shallow and slightly slanted foot ring often sports traces of trimming, while the foot bottom often exhibits a repaired knife mark, exuding a sense of simplicity and elegance. A few pieces sport a full foot design, which further accentuates their roundness, especially the tea cups, which are particularly exquisite.
